Bristol Theatre Peformance Review “It’s a pity she’s a whore”

The play of Bristol theatre UWE (UK) “It’s a pity she’s a whore” (Ford) was a tremendous success. This 90-minute drama really clicked with the public and was highly assessed by the jury. The leading actress Jessica Harriet Bailey received the award for the best female part. And another actress playing in this play – Victoria Emily Aubrey-Reece – got the prize for the best secondary role.
The play tells the story of Anna Bella who falls in love with her brother Giovanni. In rather audacious scenes they make love to each other, and Anna Bella becomes pregnant. Incest is a sin, that’s why Anna Bella gets married to man she doesn’t love. This deed makes unhappy three people and becomes the reason for five deaths at the end of the play. The play reaches a breathtaking climax, when Giovanni brings out Anna Bella’s heart on his sword. By the way, for this scene the actors used a real heart, but it was a bleeding bovine heart. The plot has a really dramatic end: Anna Bella’s and Giovanni’s father dies of heart attack, and all other heroes kill one another.
The costumes, used in the play, were highly effective. They made the performance exceptionally impressive and vivid. The scenery was beautifully designed and looked very natural.
Speaking about the actors, they did their best. The public especially liked the leading actress, who touched their hearts with the sensitive portrayal of the heroine. The actress appeared to understand the role thoroughly and, in consequence, one drank in her words and watched her with growing respect. And she really deserved the tremendous cheer, which she got in the end.
