The New Water Route on Lake Drut’ appears in Belarus
Tourism in Belarus - Plan
The new tourist water route on lake Drut’ has recently been developed, states Alexander Osmolovsky, the head of the ecotourism development public council.
The water route goes through three Belarus regions – Vitebsk, Mogilev, and Gomel region. The starting point is located not far from village Ulla (Vitebsk oblast), and the final point lies in Rogachov, where Drut falls into Dnepr. The overall length of the route is about 350 kilometres. Actually, in order to cover all the places of destination (and it is recommended to do it on kayaks) one will need approximately 3 weeks.
Moreover, 18 ecotourism centres are located along the route, and this number is to increase in the following years. Each centre (which looks like a traditional Belarusian cottage) is equipped with a special boating station, that is why exhausted by a long trip tourists will be able to stay over at the cottage or just to have a proper meal.
Those, who don’t feel confident enough to take a 3-week journey, will soon be introduced with 3 more routes, which are planned to last 2-3 days.
Finally, tourists keen on sightseeing, will be offered to visit the ancient Drut settlement in Vitebsk region, as well as the house of the famous Russian artist, Nikolai nevrev in Mogilev region.
